STANDARD CLASS: Designing Futures
This workshop offers a teaching programme aimed at young Nigerian photographers who are
interested in developing their skills and careers as photographers.
You will learn how to:
• Develop ideas and concepts
• Get started with your project
• Implement your concept
• Tell a story
• Edit and sequence
• Present your work and promote your project
The class offers:
• Lectures on contemporary photography
• Individual portfolio reviews
• Open discussions and critiques
• Supervision of a project
• Basic photographic techniques
• Digital darkroom processes
DAY 1: 19.10.2015
Location: AAF
Portfolio Review Part 1 – Focus on editing and narration.
Photographic Techniques: Manual exposure and what it can do for you.
DAY 2: 20.10.2015
Location: AAF
Portfolio Review Part 2 – Refining, restructuring and reviewing.
“The Nature of Photographs" – Lecture on the physical, depictive and mental levels of an image.
“Designing Futures" – introducing homework project.
DAY 3: 26.10.2015
Location: Eko Hotel & Suites
Homework Project Review. Selected images will be shown at LagosPhoto.
Technical error correction: Getting the most out of your work.
Feedback, questions and answers. Lecture on contemporary photography.
DAY 4: 28.10.2015
Location: Eko Hotel & Suites
Screening of selected works during LagosPhoto.
Time: 10am to 4pm
Location: African Artists Foundation 54 Raymond Njoku Street, Ikoyi, Lagos & Eko Hotel & Suites.
